The FATF grey list and the UAE
What the FATF grey list is, the UAE's history with it, and why list status matters for country risk in KYC, screening and transaction monitoring.
Short answer
The FATF grey list, formally jurisdictions under increased monitoring, names countries working with the FATF to fix strategic AML/CFT deficiencies. The UAE was placed on the list in 2022 and removed in February 2024. Grey and black list status is a common input to country risk scoring in onboarding and monitoring.
